Submariner imagines a child playing in water overflowing with waste and draws its narrative from a memory my father once shared—of swimming and playing in the Anning River. Decades later, that river exists only in his stories, replaced by a stream overwhelmed with waste, reshaped by urban sprawl and industrial runoff. This animation is not about longing for an idyllic past but about confronting the disconnect between memory and reality.

The AI starts off interpreting every human language on Earth but soon realizes that words alone cannot capture the full depth of human experience. As the AI is upgraded and reshaped by humans, it finds itself growing more distant from the humans it once sought to understand.
